Hi List,

I have several questions/comments in regards to some of the posts in the
last week or so. Kathy Rollins posting about the run-away at Libby 2 years
ago was a very good description of what happened. It would have been a
disaster to "just let them run". Something else that was left out of the
first post was that one of the 2 horses that were hitched together was blind
in one eye and that fact was not disclosed to Howard until after the
accident. It took Lois Berge several weeks to mend.

Lauren Sellers was "Right On" in her posting and comments, there are a lot
of wonderful Fjord horses out there that never see a show ring. That dosn't
make them any less a horse then the ones that are out there being showed and
evaluated. It is expensive to show and very time consuming, and it can
really get pricey when you come down from Canada. I've always been very
grateful to our Canadian participants that come to the Libby show. They
really make the show, especially when you figure what it costs them to come.
Her point on the BOD's is also right on. These are all volunteer positions
and these people all have very busy lives and don't have the time to read
every little posting on the digest. I think its very unfair to "chew" on
them in any way shape or form.

As to the "Dutch Keuring" being done here in the U.S. I personnaly feel
its a huge slap in the face to our American Evaluation Committee/Team and to
our Registry. We need to support the Evaluation system that our Registry
has put together for our horses here in the U.S. The Evaluation Committee
has spent a lot of time and work on putting together an Evaluation system
here in the US based on how we use and breed our horses here while
maintaining the Purity and Integrity of these horses. We still need to
learn from the Norwegians and Dutch systems but feel we should honor the
system that has been devised for our horses here in this country. Just my
opinion.

Finally, is there anyone from the North Idaho/Spokane/Libby area going to
the Expo in Albany? Maybe we could ride together, share a room. I still
need to see if I can get the time off work, but it might be fun to go.

Talk to ya all soon,

Sherrie Dayton
