I know I'm not a member and don't have any say, but when I read Carol's
original post I totally agreed on her view of absenteeism. The board is only
asked to meet once a month...via phone or internet. It's not as if they have
to DRIVE to the meeting. They just have to be around their computer at that
time. Having been involved with various organisations (mostly Pony Club) who
are not so "space aged" (you meet in the center of the state, usually driving
3 hours to get there) I can tell you how "bad" it looks to the people who
voted you into your position in the first place if you don't show up. The
point I got was that out of 6 meetings there were a few people who didn't
seem to make the effort to attend more than half. I would be very upset too.
Esp if the BOD was important to my business interests. Which, if I were a
breeder, it would be. I think this is a valid point that really should be
looked at.
