Jean Gayle,

I did finally find a great dressage saddle that fits Fjords well...The
Rembrandt OS. It has short flexible points and an "open head" which frees
up the shoulders, The panels sit down well into the back (Fjords do have a
bit more "sway" in the back and many saddles bridge) and the gullet is
wide. Amazingly the medium tree OS I have "fits" all of my horses, altho
it isn't balanced on The youngest, low in front. There are 4 tree sizes.
But the way it is constructed it seems to "fit" a wide variety of horses.
It was originally only one seat size, (17.5"), thus the OS (one size) but
now they make an 18.5" (OSX) and a 16.5". The seat is very comfortable.
and the saddle seems very stable on the horse. They run about $1100 (from
Classic Saddlery, priced higher in the Whitman Catalog.)

I honestly haven't ridden in it all that much....I love my OF Stitchdown.
No, the Ortho-Flex aren't perfect but I have tried a LOT of saddles with my
Fjords..Bjorken isn't all that wide, but has big shoulder, Bjarne, 24, has
a good deal of sway in his back, but those shoulders again..I shim up one
of my older OF western saddles for him, but the Rembrandt OSX Does work on
him! Stella is broad and low withers...(could lose some weight)..The
Rembrandt OS fits her well!

I don't know how much I've spent shipping saddles back and forth, trying to
find ones that work! It is a bit of a problem up here in Alaska!

Jean in sunny Fairbanks, Alaska, a fabulous day after a very cool morning!
