You and Joel have both clarified this for me.
I think it's a neat idea..focuses more on utility and purpose of logskidding
than the "racing" crowd thrilling version. Each has its merits.
I also thought it would be neat to have a real logsdid utilising some of the
woods surronding the show area at Libby.
You could set it up like a trail class, and have participants "drop in"
between certain posted times, and do the course. Might work out before or
after doing the arena log skid. You could ask one of the teamster types that
come to spectate (HOward Berge?) to judge... Adds another more realistic
dimension to the show, w/o tying up spectators limited attention span...you
could also hold a Trail Trial up at Libby, even across the street at the
USFS property. They let us do a modified learner CDE there 2 years in a row.
Lotsa fun! But Libby being as big as it is now, it would be tougher to
implement.
