We also tried Farrier's Formula and never had any problems. Also, we never had any noticeable results from using it, either. We seem to get good results using about an ounce of soy meal a day. The results of that are improved coat and hoof wall. All this gets back to whether or not to supplement. The thing to do, of course, is to have your hay and/or soil analyzed and see if it is defficient in any of the essential elements. Another way to see if your supplements are doing any good is to withdraw them for a while and observe. With good quality hay little or no supplementation is necessary for maintenance. Young, old, or hard working horses often need a bit more. Be sure to keep a close eye on your horse and note any changes. Use your vet if you should be lucky enough to have one within 150 miles. I still can't talk Steve and Amy into moving up here. Darn! Jon in Northeast Minnesota where it is raining and Mary is having fun in Libby.
