My Gelding, Bjorken, who I consider to have a moderately short back, has
been sick the last three days ( seems to be coming out of it OK now,) He
had a fever and wouldn't eat for a couple of days. It was about 3 days
after his vaccinations so maybe it is related, but at any rate he lost his
appetite and ate very little from noon Saturday until today when he started
eating well again. He lost his "belly' and now looks much longer backed
than before, almost, as Gail said "like a snake. He IS a slim type, tall
and leggy and without that nice round belly full of hay, looks very long
and lean.

Did anybody on the list use the new Strangles nasal vaccine this year? Any
reaction? How about reactions or illness 2-3 days after the vaccinations,
etc to any shots? My vet and I are trying to figure out what was the cause
of Bjorken's illness. He was started on antibiotics and a blood sample
checked on the theory it might be an infection. With a 104.2 temperature
he didn't feel good. Finally, perhaps due to the antibiotics, his fever
dropped to normal and he is now almost back to his old self. bloodwork was
fairly normal except for electrolytes, so my vet thought maybe Kidney
infection or something.

Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska, LEAF-OUT at last! Later this year than the last
few years!
