Thanks for the reply, I agree, my horses like to chew on each other's
necks and if I leave halters on
they get all chewed up by the other horses and of course, they use the
halter as a tug rope. I find halters 
laying around in the mud or being tossed around by the horses if I leave
them on. A fly mask wouldn't last
very long with the geldings. Just like little puppies and shoe laces.

I  use "Skin so soft" bath oil from Avon for those flys .  I use it in
our
dogs ears and also the horses. It works great. The little boogers just
drown
in it if they come near the ears at all. I have never had an animals
ears
get infected yet from these flys. Hope this helps.
