Amy I do not think you are crediting the horse with sufficient knowledge!
Why shouldn't they recognize a fellow Fjord?  If a horse can recognize it's
mother from a distance why not others of like color and stature?   Jean

PS re colors I seem to recall reading somewhere that the white horse or
light colored was shunned by the wild herd as it was more easily seen and
could attract predators.  So a horse surely can interpret different colors.
