Hi...How is everyone making out in the battle of the horse fly? The blasted
things were right inside the flyshed chewing away.on the horses...we brought
them in and wiped them all over with flyspray....and I remember reading in
here that good old fashioned Listerine mouth wash will work for no see-ums
and mosquitos...and I was wondering how well it works on horse flies? and
how long it will last. I think I will buy a bottle and try it
anyhow....poor storm was just a kicking....but stands rock still to have the
fly dope wiped on. All three are extremely quiet animals.
One of my husbands friends(who married one of my friends) was kicked in the
head and trampled to death last week, while attempting to shoe his Belgian.
Apparently the stall was narrow and the horse nervous. He only uses this
animal in draft horse pulls as he is too nervous and nasty for any other
type of work....I would have sent it to the canner long ago.....as they knew
it was dangerous. It weighed in the vicinity of 1600 pounds. Albert was
only 53. It makes me sick....such a terrible thing to happen.
Denise....I am so glad that the horses were found.
On another topic....has anyone any repellant for a striped (long narrow
yellow and black flying cucumber beetle)? I am using a vegetable dust but
am wondering if it is all that effective. They are eating my giant pumpkin
and squash plants.... even burrowing right in the ground around them! They
are also mating *gross* all over my plants leaves....
Well ttfn, Sue in N.B. (Desert Storm's mom)
