We're finally getting some nice weather here in Maine. So we got Osa and Geilo out to go for our first spring ride this weekend. The farrier had been about two weeks ago but being frantically busy with sheep shearing and other spring things hadn't done much beyond feeding, grooming and giving the ponies their daily hug. This weekend as I was leading Osa in I heard this weird clicking and realized she was hitting the sole of her front feet with the toe of the rear (same side). She's never done this before so I'm assuming that she's been trimmed off balance. Now what to do. Can one bad trim cause this or is it more likely something that has been developing? I had felt confident in my farrier but now I'm worried that he's not as competent as I thought. Could there be another cause? She's not lame or in any discomfort so I can't believe there is any injury that is causing her to move off balance.
Thanks all, it's great to have a group of Fjord people at the other end of the computer lines.
Jane
