Friends of mine foundered their lovely fjord by giving too much supplements and enjoying his super fat condition. It came to a head during the hot grass season in the spring and early summer. He is now useless and they must restrict his grazing every day for life. My fjord is in their keeping and I am a bit nervous as I was told he is "pretty fat." They will be bringing him home tomorrow so he will be a hungry guy for awhile as I trim him down. He has very hard small hoofs which to me is an invitation to founder. I have my fingers crossed.
