This message is from: "Gail Russell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> The problem is one of perspective. I don't want to go into specifics, so as to start the original discussion, but it may be enough to say this. In my view, there were some statements that were made that I perceive as "reactive" and some that I perceive as deliberately executed or "non-reactive." From my point of view, as an uninvolved onlooker, I rate the "non-reactive" statements on a higher scale of reprehensibility than the reactive statements. If I had to rate the "threat level" to the PNFG of the two sets of statements, I would rate the "non-reactive" statements higher on the scale (Maybe yellow versus orange...neither is red in my view). From your description, my guess is that we disagree. That becomes the problem unless you have some pretty clear language and a pretty good process to go with it.
Of course, I was not on the receiving end of any of these statements, and do not currently belong to the PNFG, so I really do not have any standing to advocate for or against a rule change for the PNFG. However, I do not think it is necessary at this point to introduce such rules to the NFHR (to which I think I have let my membership lapse...oops!) I do not think any of the statements rises to the level of the classic legal example of shouting FIRE in a crowded theater. Gail Shortly after the Nordicfest show in Libby, MT a member to this site wrote some very harsh things naming names and basically trashing the show committee at the Libby show and defaming some very well know and respected people in the Fjord community. A hand full of people then jumped on board agreeing with the author of this post even though most had no idea of what actually occured but couldn't wait to malign the committee and others that were mentioned. As I understand it, this post went to the entire Fjord horse community around the world. ..... In other words, I have a right to stand in a theater and yell FIRE, FIRE but the community as a whole also has the right to have me arrested if indeed there is no fire. While the individuals who were maligned and defamed, around the world mind you, have to pick up the pieces and defend themselves to others who just want to know what's going on. How is this right?
