I have so enjoyed the latest issue of the Fjord Herald. Kudos to Beth and Sandy. It is one of the most attractive, interesting and diverse breed magazines I have ever seen! And competes well in other categories as well. I love the personal articles from people enjoying their Fjords and Fjord friends. (I have equally enjoyed all the issues, but this latest one prompted me to write!) The ad for the 30th and the response of many who will be coming but without horses really sets this up. In order for our celebration to be the success we know it can be, and enjoyable for all to come, we will need VOLUNTEERS. Lindy Hild and I have been asked to organize the volunteers for the celebration in 2011 and while that seems like a long time from now, please start thinking about your part. Our hope is to evaluate all of the activities and divide volunteer needs into small increments. No one should have to miss out, or be locked into big blocks of time. If we can encourage enough folks to donate some time, it will be an easy process for us all. (we're also plotting some nice thank you goodies for those who do :~). So please keep in the back of your mind the need for volunteers, and the reward that comes with helping make something this special a real success for all involved. As time gets shorter and we have a better idea of the order/type of activities scheduled, we'll be able to post options and opportunities so that you can contribute in a manner that is comfortable for you and profitable for the organization. One of the hallmarks of "Fjord Folk" has always been their generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand--or lead rope, hoof pick, or in this case an hour or two of time! We are so looking forward to being together in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2011. As we go forward, I'll keep you all posted on the Options and Opportunities!
