Myabe you won't find this helpful as I don't need to convince YOU I need to 
convince your barn owner.  I share your aversion to turnout halters.  Maybe the 
following will convince your owner.  I once had to have an animal disposal guy 
remove a young horse of mine who had broken his neck.  The disposal guy asked 
"did he have his halter on?" He didn't but the guy says that he has seen a 
number of horses with broken necks caused by wearing a halter.
