I do usually chat to Macromedia about this sort of stuff before I implement it.
Often they can't give me a definitive answer on whether it will be implemented or not because it hasn't been decided yet. In that case I usually hold off until I'm fairly sure they won't. No point in me doing work they're already on top of, but it does help if I understand what people might want before asking them if it's likely to happen.
