Dude, I'm pretty sure that the BMW website does that because of a bodgy detection script rather than the site actually "requiring" Player7. Player8 can handle anything that Player7 could (aka backwards compatibility). In pseudocode, it sounds like the detection script is checking that (version == 7) rather than (version >= 7).
