So I created a hack work around for this in case anyone is interested. About a second after the popup, I attach a mc that covers the whole stage and set its alpha at 1%, then tween it to 0 out over the next 10 frames. This is a relatively invisible way to do it, albeit very hack.

I'm using the stage class to keep the main movieclip centered in the background, and when I resize the window, the elements show up again. Has anyone seen this before or implemented a workaround for this seemingly strange behavior?
