elibol, Thanks for the quick response. I understand that part. Where I'm stuck is trying to create a window like the one in the actionspanel where a person can select an instance name from the hierarchy of instances on the stage. Would you happen to know how to get that to appear. I'm starting to think it might be only available if I create a dialog.
