This brings up an interesting point. Exactly when is the server beneficial to have? Seems to me that if the point of Flex is to create "applications," which by their very nature tend to be rather data-centric products, then wouldn't the server be required to do anything of substance? What, really, does the server add to the mix? And what can Flex accomplish on its own without the server?
