very true, it also brings up the point that the development of open source tools can (to some extent) now be unified where the eclipse platform is concerned.

If a developer creates a nice plugin for flash development on eclipse, a developer who is using either FB2 or a collection of open source alternatives can benefit.

I agree, i think its a very good move.

With Flex Builder 2 being built on the Eclipse platform, there is enormous
scope for open source developers to contribute very low level functionality
to extend and enhance the product.

You really do get the best of both worlds and I, for one, applaud Macromedia
for choosing it.
