Flex has a history (back button) thing built in.
It uses a hidden .swf in an iframe in combination with javascript to keep track 
of everything, including updating the url.

Macromedia themselves have been using something similar for some time now with 
their "Exchange RIA" (Flash Exchange, Dreamweaver 
Exchange, etc..)
