Reuters AlertNet (www.alertnet.org), the award-winning humanitarian news website run by Reuters Foundation, is looking for a creative and enthusiastic developer to help with an exciting new project aimed at harnessing online technology to make a real difference in the world. Over the coming months, AlertNet will be developing a set of innovative online resources aimed at bridging the information gap between aid workers and journalists covering emergencies. We're looking for a resourceful programmer with a flair for design to help us come up with practical tools aimed at boosting global awareness of humanitarian emergencies and helping relief agencies respond quickly and efficiently. The successful candidate will have a wide range of responsibilities, from developing new interactive online tools that make best use of new web techniques to making existing online tools more efficient. He or she will also gain valuable nuts-and-bolts experience of developing and maintaining the world's favourite humanitarian news portal. This is an excellent opportunity for a young and motivated developer to work with new web technologies in a dynamic team that aims to put Reuters principles of speed, accuracy and impartiality at the disposal of the humanitarian community.
