Hi Julian The good news is that there is definitely a way to fix this. The bad news is i'm not sure you have been able to describe what is going on well enough for folk to help you figure it out yet.
First. A question. Is this 5MB swf an animation with graphs or interactive graphs? If it's an animation then I'm sure this can be done very easily. If these are interactive graphs and classes then it's going to be annoying and difficult to communicate about. Now, please forgive me if this sounds insulting, I don't mean for it to be, but I'm in a rush, I just didn't want to leave you hanging with no response. Are you really familiar with different ways of reducing graphic sizes? a 5MB swf is, for starters, going to require a cable modem and will not work for folk with phone connections. I'm skeptical that you can't still make this smaller. If you can post these graphics somewhere for someone else to look at I'd bet they can be reduced further. Also, even if you don't think you can do the above, can you split the one swf into 5 others? If so, you'll want to do this so the wait isn't long for cable connections and so that it can be made possible for phone connections. Finally, this 5MB clip. Does it have a stop() action in the first frame? If not that could be your problem right there. Have your graphics start in frame 2 and have a stop in frame 1. Wait until it's finished loading to send a play() command to it and to your tween between the two levels. If this is an animation/slideshow of graphs then as long as you put a stop in frame 1, have the graphics start in frame 2, and have your "loading" movieclip in the main.swf then put a dummy movieclip in _levelx of your main.swf, you should be able to load your animation or slideshow just fine. However, if what you are doing is loading a lot of classes and v2 components that are all set to load in the first frame which is a classic mistake, it will be much more annoying and complicated to fix. Still I hope that it's the first case and that this helps. -Cort On 12/11/05, Julián Atienza <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > HELP ME! > I have a demo of my project in a few days and i still have a serious > problem... > > I made my project using several levels (Level_0, Level_1, Level_2) , > AS2.0 and some classes to help me with the manage of > interface, information to parse from XML, etc... > > One of my problems is so simple but i just don't know how to solve it. > > When i'm in one state of the interface and the user interact with > some controls, i have to load a big Swf (i've reduced to 5Mb with > medium quality in graphs but it was almost 7Mb in past due to > sophisticated big grpahics maps i have to load). > > The class that i built to manage interface uses a MovieClipLoader > to load contents of levels and made a tweening between two levels when > the first, and the new level is loaded. > > Only In the last situation, when the swf is big, and i'm loading it, > no events of movieclip are throwed or triggered til the load is finished. > My boss want to see the typical animation during load or a simple > animated GIF that follows to the icon pointer of mouse. > > OK.
