The simple solution is to make a small movie, with get url (to the main

This will detect if the viewer has flash 8 player (or not).
How ever the main problem is that most people simply don't have it (yet?),
Which detection will not solve.

The old-school solution was to add a META Refresh tag to the page containing the detection .SWF, so that if the viewer does not have the correct version of Flash (or does not have it at all), they are directed to a 'get Flash' page. I seem to recall that there were still some issues with the Refresh tag, though.
