I want the user to be able to preview like 5 sounds
from a drop down and make a selection in a dropdown so
it'll play that sound in the background. This will
either be with an .swf embedded in a web page or an
exe they can run locally.

Then the next time they visit the page or open the
exe, it'll remember the last background sound they
selected and play that one as default.

Does this involve using flash's local sharedobjects or
cookies of some sort? Is there an example of this
somewhere?

Any chance they could browse their local drive for a
wav or mp3 to play?

Thank you in advance!
