I have never really seen any memory leak issues, but then I never really built any Flash exe apps until recently. I export to version 8 with this app (why not?) and use Fluorine for the messaging, and all seems hunky dory :) I was using the External API, but I run the same Flash layer as a web version of the application and so having one set of data transfer functions rather than External API & XML calls doing the same job make for a neater project :)
I will state one thing though. Now Adobe have their mits on the Flash project, I hope they expose more of the Flash API through the OCX. Being able to add a custom scripting language to the Flash OCX would make desktop applications development far quicker and reduce non-native datatype transfers. As it stands, I can't wait for WinFX ;) Lee -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kenneth Kawamoto Sent: 29 March 2006 13:54 To: flashcoders@chattyfig.figleaf.com Subject: [Flashcoders] If not Zinc, then what? >I use Flash with a C# back-end for a kiosk system. Lee, If you use Flash only for UI and do all the back-end in C#, then it does make sense. It's good to know it can run 24/7 - I thought it had memory leak issue but must be sorted out then!
