Seriously though, I've built something similar. An admin system for a pageable kiosk app. It lets you reposition, resize, recolor, format text etc, though the actual adding of items is set in a .NET app.
The core functionality behind it is a resizer class I built, which just so happens to be a tutorial component on the macromedia exchange website. Do a search in exchange for DR-Resizer or Lee McColl and you'll find it.
