If you want to make your own DataGrid header row and still retain
sorting functionality, make each header a button with code which
calls something like:
dg.content_mc.header_mc.hO1.onRelease();
"dg" is your datagrid, and the "1" is the index of the column. Note
that's a letter-o before it, not number-zero.

I see what you are saying about enhancing the colors to envelop the
rows that "go together" (making them appear as one row). That's a
good idea, I'll have to see how/if I can get that to work. I just
don't quite know how to "trick" that data into working that way -
like, does it need to happen in Perl, or in AS, or both? :-)
Any other ideas on how to do a multi-line header bar in a Data Grid
and multi-line returned rows, I'd be thrilled to entertain them!

You may be better off turning off the header and creating your own
header that replicates what you want. Then set up the datagrid to
show
the rows correctly. If you can't put all the information within a
single row, you may want to use the enhance grid and have it set the
back ground colors for rows that go together (i.e. rows 1-4 would
be the
same record, rows 5 - 9, etc...)
