Have you considered loading the SWF as binary data through the Loader class? Supposedly, you can use Loader.loadBytes to load a SWF as a byteArray and then add it to the display list. If you keep a copy of the byteArray, you should theoretically be able to add it to the display list as many times as you like. (I've never done this, so I could be way wrong)

It's a good idea, but unfortunately I'm loading in text and the Flash movie needs to be scaleable so I don't want to lose the vector data. I think I may have found a workround which means I don't need to load in as many copies as I was doing, so hopefully I should be okay, but I'm still interested in hearing any alternative solutions.
