Forgive me if there is already a thread about Flash 9 performance here on
the list. I don't keep up with this list as well as I should. I just
looked at this, however...

...and I am astounded by those numbers. Is Flash 9 really that fast?

Yes.
One importang thing to point is that it's not that "Flash 9 is fast", but
rather "the new virtual machine/AS3 is fast".
(AS2/1 speed will have no impact under Flash 9. I recon there are
improvements, but the shining feature of Player 9 is the new VM).
