Is it possible to publish a movie as Flash 6, but use the flash filters to add things like drop shadows for those with the Flash 8 or greater plugin?
Cedric had a good tip on how to do this in a single file, and Peter discussed the split-file technique as well.
But a reminder, too, of the counter-intuitive finding that very few people have Macromedia Flash Player 6 these days... back in June a consumer survey found that less than 2% had FP6 installed, while over 85% already had FP8, and over the past six months of YouTubey happiness that difference would have become even more radically pronounced.
... but maybe you have an audience which is partially locked down, where they don't have permission to change what's on their machines...?
