I can't really speak to the specific numbers of symbols, etc, but Flash Player 9 (unlike previous versions) is capable of displaying as much data as any other sort of web-driven interface, if not more. In my experience with Flex, the limiting factors for Flash/Flex applications are no longer specific to the player, but other (server-side) issues.
