If all you want to do is circumvent the EOLAS patent issue, and don't care about player detection (and maybe if IE7 is hosing Flash player detection, you don't WANT to worry about it :) ), then just write an external .js file which writes out the Flash embed tags into your HTML page. Really super easy if you know just a little (and I mean little, like JS 101) Javascript. All you really need to know how to do in JS is document.write,put the document.write statements in a function, and how to in HTML link to the .js file and call the function.
