Yes, there's very nice PDF generation in CF 7, and even better PDF generation in the upcoming CF 8. Now that Adobe owns it, the sky's the limit! However, you can generate PDFs directly from Java, using the same basic functionality as CF has (but with a lot more coding on your part). There are similar libraries available for other environments as well. None is as easy as CF for this, though, in my experience.
