That's usually not practical. I'm perfectly happy to direct somebody to my links, but I'm not going to send my source code, which is usually proprietary, to a potential client or employer. One thing we shouldn't lose sight of here--the interview process is a two-way street. The employer is interviewing you, but you should also be interviewing the employer. If you're a half-decent coder, you are very much in demand, and should look for a job that fits you. For example, I've done educational software most of my career, and I'm not going to take a job writing banner ads (not a criticism of those of us who do--it's just not my thing).
