Hi,
(Using CS3 publishing to FP8 with Windoze).

Slightly OT, but I am working with Arabic text in Flash and trying to paste from an XLS spreadsheet (viewing with OpenOffice) to an XML file. I then load this file into Flash and extract some of the node contents to use as text in dynamic text fields. Because Flash does not deal with RTL very well in older players, I am not embedding the font / turning it off for the Arabic language.

When I view the spreadsheet, I am guessing that the word and letter order is correct (comparing to Google Translate it is), but when I paste from the spreadsheet to my XML file, the order of letters is reversed and subsequently appears incorrectly in Flash. Checking the trace of the XML contents, the extracted text and looking at the text field on stage, all of these contain reversed text. I opened my file in Notepad and saved as UTF-8, but still no joy. - with the text fields, I am turning off font embedding with AS and even creating a brand new text field - to no avail... Does anyone have any tips on what to use for creating the XML from my spreadsheet - via copy & paste etc. I have tried Notepad, Notepad++, FlashDevelop and Bonodi XML editor so far all with the same results...

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks

   Glen
