As I described in my eMail I'm using author-time created assets. Follow the steps I described, you should see the same thing.
Note: just verified that setting the alpha programmatically via AS (following setting the text of the dynamic field) instead of manually on the timeline, makes no difference. Note: this is not a solution I'm looking for.
