Php, mysql and joomla can work perfectly well on a windows hosting...
I've done some flash sites with joomla behind and the only thing you need
for it... is getting flash/joomla to talk some xml between them...
;)
LOL, yes you're right, but my problem is that this client is using a
host and current application that's based on asp classic/access and
their current host doesn't support PHP or Joomla. If they did I
wouldn't have a problem!

I have a small client where I have taken their original Flash commerce
website and continued to redevelop and maintain it. OK, no big deal with
that. The website was originally constructed with flash frontend and a
bespoke backend/CMS that seems to be based upon classic asp and access
(refrain from comments, please).
I have deliberately kept my involvement to the frontend and the original
backend developer has maintained the database and backend admin system. I
like it like that because I'm not responsible for that side of the
operation. My only server-side involvement is updating some asp
functionality to generate a new XML feed from the backend.
I have been looking at moving the site from being a pure flash site to a
flash/html hybrid - primarily for SEO purposes and while I have provided
bespoke HTML support, it would be great to do this with a simple CMS. My
personal favourites for this exercise would be Joomla or Drupal, but the
clients host doesn't support PHP or MySQL.
In other circumstances, I would recommend switching host, but I don't want
to involve this client in a major upheaval of their business. I've not
really been a M$ person always using Unix server variants. Anyone care to
recommend a free CMS system that can run on classic ASP and is similar to
Joomla or Drupal in terms of functionality? Ideally I'd like the flash in
the flash/HTML hybrid to be able to interact with the CMS. Most of the asp
based CMS stuff revealed by google has been awful or expensive.
Any suggestions?
Paul
