I do think it's all about money, but it's not about shutting anyone down (though in some extreme cases that may be a tactic to make money). In the end, it's all about money. Doesn't really matter what developers or environmentalists or the government or even consumers want, it's all about what tactics and products will bring in the most revenue to a company without getting sued. This is the way it always has been and always will be until we're living in the Trek universe and we've figured out economics and money is not an issue anymore for anyone (but that will never happen).
