I totally agree with the rest of the guys, if you want to communicate mysql with flash you would have to use a php or coldfusion page first, make this page as xml and then retrieve the info into flash...it seems that there is not other way.

Saying that, you could write your own AS3 MySQL engine and connect directly to port 3306, or alternatively use someone else's AS3-MySQL engine but they are usually not "complete" or mature like libs for PHP, Python, etc. etc.
