No. as far as I understand the alivePDF methods are just about how the pdf is created, page size, orientation, meta information like key words, author etc. Basically you create your image (for instance like you said, create a layout and fill it with xml data in one mc) and 'feed' this image to AlivePDF. Don't expect a very versatile pdf however with forms and cross references. It is basically a rasterized version of your mc, wrapped in a pdf document.
