um, www.haxe.org.

actually a nicer language than AS3 in many ways. your AS3 skills will help
you get going quick, and you can use it for server and client side. the
more people on board using it the better the documentation etc. will get,
which i warn you is a bit sparse.

yeah the anti flash stuff is mainly just ignorance to be honest, but
there's millions of JS developers out there all convinced that they can do
what flash does in HTML5. they'll have a long wait. in between times i'd
suggest getting off the ground with haxe, right now you can use the same
codebase to hit flash and HTML5 using a haxe lib called jeash. it doesn't
implement the whole of the api but people are using it to produce games.
all the bad stuff levelled at flash is the fault of the programmer not the
platform. it gets singled out because it can be singled out from the rest
of the markup as it's a plugin. when there is a majority of html5 ads and
web apps, the discussion will be about bad programming skills and not the
platform as there will be no alternative.

i think we all could write some JS that maxes CPU and memory and crashes a
browser in 5 minutes :)
