Hello!
I have a few questions and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out.
Let me first explain what I'm trying to do. I want to modify a dell bios, but
when I try to extract the rom file from the executable with the command
-writeromfile, it won't work.  So, I though maybe I could mod a bios backup
file, but I can't flash it with standard flash utilities. I've read that the
backup doesn't contain the platform necessary to flash properly, and that's the
reason the standard flash utilities reject the attempt.
So, I'm hoping maybe this utility will be able to write a rom backup file to
the chip.
I've tried to copy your flashrom file to a bootable flash drive, but when I
booted into the drive, and typed command "flashrom.exe", a colorful screen
would open, the curser would blink, but I couldn't type a command.  Then the
screen switched over to a plain msg screen.
The dell is an inspirion 531 with an award bios.  The chip is supported but I'm
not sure about the board.  I think its an asus.
Anyway, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!
Steve
