there was a bug fixed between 0.9.2 and 0.9.3 for this flash chip which solves "Missing status register write definition, assuming EWSR is needed". using a version >= 0.9.3 should not print this line on your machine and unlock the write protection reliably (if there is no hw protection). i dont know why those lock bits were cleared in your case one time (it does not try to clear them if they are already 0 so the second run with the redirection does not tell us anything). please try a later version. see http://flashrom.org/Downloads how to get and build the svn version.
