This was (explicitly) describing my view/conception in 2014. Back then there was way more progress upstream and less backlog of big patches. It was actually you who brought up the topic in that meeting IIRC. The problem as I understood it then was that the overhead of picking upstream patches for the chromiumos was perceived as getting out of hand. I am not sure how you tried to get them in but I don't see any open threads regarding any (big) patches by you on the ML...
