I am reluctant to comment on this topic as I am a happy camper with fldigi the way it is today. My vote is if it¹s not broke, don¹t fix it.
When I first started using fldigi, I did not use rig control and got along fine using the ³Open List² button rig under the frequency display. I modified the frequencies2.txt list to cover the areas I like to work and it worked fine. Thanks to Dino, KL0S, I finally got a cable with the right connectors that would let me use the old Keyspan Serial to USB adapter to get my Kenwood to talk to the iMac. With good cable I was able to get basic rig control working and it has been working FB. When I see the 3850 (or whatever), it tells me something is wrong with my rig control interface and is good tip that I need to figure out what is wrong. Dick AA5VU
