The manual page mentions a similar trick with xvfb-run but something like vnc or xpra might be better because you can see the window if necessary. Don't know about overhead though. Anyway it should be possible to set the psk browser to open automatically with the desired number of channels so that all you need to do is run fldigi under xvfb. I don't think there are xmlrpc calls to toggle the browser but we could add some.
