I'd say that it would be better to
a) either open up Flash, or at least provide an open source
implementation of an AVM
b) help the rest of the world to improve JavaScript VMs and open
standards to support what Flash is supporting today

Apache Software Foundation & Flash: Not sure that the ASF should help
Adobe market a proprietary plug-in. If Adobe would have been able to
improve Flash's performance equally to the performance improvements we
have seen in the Java world, I'd say that Flash is good. Instead I'd
say that Flash is - in some areas - better suited to solve some
problems we are facing in modern web applications. But the future is
JavaScript/HTML5 - which even Adobe has admitted.
