Thanks everyone! This is a huge responsibility and I will do my best to do
justice to it.

Just a bit about me: My background is in computer graphics and user
interface programming. I have been working with the Flash platform from
Flash 5 onwards. I have worked with ActionScript1 and have done prototype
based programming before it was cool (hipster alert!) I started building
enterprise applications using Flash MX 2004 and ActionScript 2. It was
cool, but it lacked several very important features. Moreover, I had to
build a whole lot of things multiple times for different projects. Then
came Flex 2 + ActionScript3 and (almost) all my problems were instantly
solved. Since then, I have never looked back and never had to even look at
any other framework/technology to build interactive web applications.

I also want to take this time to give a shout out to the Adobe(Macromedia)
engineers who built the wonderful Flex framework and SDK. We are the first
to scream when we find issues or bugs, but we need to take a moment and
thank them for creating it in the first place and now donating it to
Apache. Special thanks to Alex and Carol for keeping a cool head through
the transition. It is not easy to have thousands of developers all around
the world breathing down on your necks when your trying to code. Not to
mention a needlessly belligerent tech community that wants to see this
technology fail.

Flex is the BEST multi-platform application framework that exists today.
Lets make it better :-)

Thanks,
Om
