I don't think anything is nailed down for sure, but Flash roadmap opens the
door for the new VM that runs AS4 to not run AS3. Thibault pretty much
said, however, that the FlashPlayer will continue to run the AS3 VM. I
assume that will happen much like the current FlashPlayer has a separate VM
for running AS2.
I'm not sure what the story is for AIR. One way to future-proof your apps,
whether Flex or pure AS, is to utilize the captive-runtime feature, which
you probably had to use to target IOS.
